We all have made mistakes in our past, and those mistakes can weigh us down with despair and regrets, robbing our lives of Joy and Hope. But Christ’s death on the cross removed the guilt and shame. The bible tells us that God did not send His Son to condemn you but that you may be saved through Him, by accepting Him as your Savior and Lord. So, do not condemn yourself, come to Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. He gave us the power to restore our broken lives and leave the past on the cross.

Just like the woman at the well. When Jesus asked her to bring her husband. She responded that she had no husband. She had been married 5 times, and the man she was with currently was not her husband. Instead of condemning her for her past (and current) activities, He had compassion on her and set her free.

John 4:21-26

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

Knowing her past, Jesus still revealed Himself to her and accepted her. God knows our past, and there is nothing we can do about it, BUT He accepts and loves us as we are. And gives us the power to break the bondage of the past.
